The Hollywood Beauty Detective put together a photo shoot recently to introduce THBD’s 10 Legendary Looks: 10 Looks that reflect an ‘essence’ of a woman. With the generous help from Vera Bradley handbags and accessories, and Jane Iredale makeup, we had 12 women – friends and women in the company, even me (as The Enchantress) -personify each Look. Yes, we had doubles for The Inspirer and The Natural, hence the 12. The ages of the women ranged from 19 to 72 and we had all shapes, sizes, and colors represented.

My relationship to beauty has been a strange journey. My parents had five girls and one boy, so you can imagine how that went. My sisters and I would do each others hair, share clothes (hand me downs since I was the youngest) and play games together. My mother and father valued nature, music, books, art, and education. We were led by example by two people with great integrity. We were rewarded with praise for our actions, our kindness, our intelligence, but never our beauty. Read more
In 1977, I was an intern at The Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival in Lakewood, Ohio (my hometown). I was 20 years old. I had been at college (Hiram College), but quit school to work at the festival and pursue my dream of becoming an actress. For that summer, I was part of that company of actors. I had one line in Taming of the Shrew and assisted with props on that show, and I ran sound for Hamlet (big mistake for that production). It was, however, an amazing time. Read more
