Are You Stuck On Life’s Treadmill

  I have been training for an upcoming race I will be running, so training has been essential.  The sun has been shining as of late, but a few weeks ago I put on my running shoes only to discover it was raining outside  So off to the gym I  go.  I jumped on the treadmill and I started running.  Usually I find the 1st mile the hardest before I get in my running groove.  This time after 3 miles in – I was still not “feeling it”.  I’m usually good at pushing through and getting it done but this time I just couldn’t and I didn’t make it my usual 6 miles.  I was frustrated with myself and a little perplexed as to why it was so difficult to accomplish.

The Hollywood Beauty Detective put together a photo shoot recently to introduce THBD’s 10 Legendary Looks: 10 Looks that reflect an ‘essence’ of a woman. With the generous help from Vera Bradley handbags and accessories, and Jane Iredale makeup, we had 12 women – friends and women in the company, even me (as The Enchantress) -personify each Look. Yes, we had doubles for The Inspirer and The Natural, hence the 12.  The ages of the women ranged from 19 to 72 and we had all shapes, sizes, and colors represented.

Yes, I am slightly obsessed with Drag Queens. They have figured out beauty hacks to many dilemmas that we all have experienced. I’ve learned many of these from watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, in which the contestants compete in all kinds of crazy competitions to be named “America’s Next Drag Superstar”.

We live in a society that thrives on a concept of beauty and on comparison. Just google “Who Wore It Better?” and you’ll see examples of hundreds of images of women wearing the same dress with the question, “Who wore it better?” at the top of the two pictures.
